MISSIONARY KID RETREAT 2026

Are you a WELS Missionary Kid? Bring yourself, your spouse, and your kids to our 2026 retreat in Wisconsin! This is a three night event, with meals and lodging included. There will be Bible study, workshops on Third Culture Kid norms, and plenty of social activities.

The retreat theme for 2026 will be "On Our Way Home," based on the Bible passage:

All these people were still living by faith when they died. They did not receive the things promised; they only saw them and welcomed them from a distance, admitting that they were foreigners and strangers on earth. People who say such things show that they are looking for a country of their own. If they had been thinking of the country they had left, they would have had opportunity to return. Instead, they were longing for a better country—a heavenly one. Therefore God is not ashamed to be called their God, for he has prepared a city for them. Hebrews 11:13-16 NIV

Event Details

This is a recurring event every year, however 2026 is the third in a rotation, when we invite spouses and children to join in fellowship.
It is organized by fellow missionary kids and sponsored by WELS World Missions; we invite you to use your passions and gifts to join us in planning (email us at welsmkretreat@gmail.com).

Programming for the Whole Family

There is complimentary room and board at Green Lake Conference Center. There will be Bible Study, "TCK" Workshops, and breakout groups for Missionary Kids and spouses. Expect childcare and structured activities for kids of all ages. Camp led activities, outdoors time, board games, international snacks, stories, and s'mores.

Population Invited

This event is for anyone who spent childhood years on WELS world mission fields, who are now adults (15+). Spouses and children of MKs are invited to attend this year (2026) and have a chance to learn, connect, and have fun! If you are a minor MK (15-17 years old), you will be completely taken care - surrounded by other MKs your age, chaperoned, and in a dorm style building.
*Please note that other WELS affiliated organizations may be included. For example the following children are welcome: children of Kingdom Workers, called workers in the Caribbean, and called workers on the Apache reservations! If there are any questions of eligibility please email us.
